How Solar Works
1. sun shines on your solar panels, generating “DC” (Direct Current) electricity.
2. The electricity is fed into your solar inverter that converts into “AC” (Alternating Current) electricity.
3. The AC electricity is used to power appliances in your home.
4. The meter keeps track of electricity used in your home or business.
Any electricity that is not used goes back to the grid, and you get paid for it.
Many of our Illinois customers ask if solar power “works” during the fall and winter months. The answer is YES! Today’s solar panels can use direct or indirect sunlight to generate power, and the colder temperatures will typically improve solar panel output. The white snow can also reflect light and help improve your systems performance. Illinois is a great fit for solar.
